George Bush.

Day 7: September 12: Saint John NB (Bay of Fundy), Canada
The ship is in port from 7am to 4pm.  For anyone who purchases our shore excursion package our tour will begin in the oldest incorporated city in Canada, Saint John.  Saint John is over 400 years old.  We will see the famous Reversing Falls and our expert guides will explain this unique phenomenon.  From here we will travel an hour up the coast to the quaint fishing village of St. Martin.  You will be able to browse for local handmade crafts, visit with the native people, walk along the beach collecting stones, and enjoy this picturesque village.  This area has always been a favorite of photographers and painters for variety of reasons, including covered bridges, lighhouses and fishing vessels.  This area is also known for its sea caves that have been slowly created by the incoming tides.  We will have the chance to explore these caves before returning to St. John, where if time permits we will have a chance to visit the old city market.

Day 8: September 13: Halifax Nova Scotia, Canada
The ship is in port from 10am to 7pm.  For anyone who purchases our shore excursion package our tour will discover Halifax, Nova Scotia's vibrant capital city founded in 1749.  Stunning 18th and 19th century buildings are interspersed with ultra-modern glass towers.  Passing through bustling downtown Halifax, you'll see Province House, the seat of government and Canada's oldest legislative building, referred to as "a gem of Georgian architecture" by Charles Dickens, who passed through here in the 1840s.  This excursion also includes a drive around Halifax Citadel, a majestic hilltop fortress comleted in 1856 where you will be given a photo stop.  From here we make our way to the Halifax Public Gardens, one of the oldest examples of Victorian Public Gardens in North America.  We will take a walk through the gardens before we proceed to the Halifax Waterfront where you will be given free time to have lunch on your own.  After lunch we will drive past Historic Properties, a popular complex of 19th century wharves and warehouses transformed into upscale boutiques and charming restaurants.  A collision in 1917 between two ships in Halifax harbor, one a French munitions ship that leveled the North End of Halifax killing or injuring thousands.  Our next stop will be Fairveiw Lawn Cemetery where rows of gravestones mark the final resting place of 121 victims of the Titanic.  After this interesting stop we have a beautiful coastal drive that takes you past picturesque coastal villages and inlets to the rugged fishing community of Peggy's Cove.  With its breathtaking location on a narrow, coastal inlet characterized by wave-worn granite boulders and crashing surf, this charming little village is one of Canada's most photographed sites.  According to local legend, Peggy's Cove received its name in the 1800's when a schooner ran aground and sank.  The only survivor fro the wreckage was a woman named Margaret.  The locals came to know here as Peggy and her home as Peggy's Cove.  A lighthouse was constructed in 1868 on the smooth white granite rocks at the point of the cove is one of the crowning features of this peaceful place.  Unfortunately it has been closed to visitors due to mold from years of water crashing into it.  You will certainly fall in love with this tiny village where colorful houses dot the shore line and quaint shops and galleries line the streets.
