AmaMagna Exotic Danube River Cruise

Bulgaria, Croatia, Hungary, Serbia, Turkey & Land Tour of Romania 17 day cruise/tour - May 8, 2026

STUNNING AmaMagna CRUISE - The Most Luxurious River Cruise Ship in the World!

Exceeded Expectations

Our owners had heard about the stunning AmaMagna ship, but had never personally experienced it until the summer of 2024. It far exceeded every expectation. It is the most impressive river cruise ship ever built. It is DOUBLE the size of AmaWaterways’ other luxury river cruise ships. With it having double the amount of square feet of other ships, this is what they did with all the additional space: Approximately 25% of the additional space was put into additional cabins. The other 75% was used to make every cabin larger and more luxurious, along with additional restaurants and lounges. The size of the ship created the largest, most spacious sun deck in river cruising – it even has a full-size Pickleball Court.

Consider

Our concern was that all of the additional space and luxury was going to make the Magna much more expensive. The truth is, the AmaMagna is substantially more expensive – BUT, not for you in 2026. Fun For Less Tours AmaMagna special Charter Pricing for 2026 is so gigantic, we are able to get our passengers into the AmaMagna for about the same price as they would pay for Ama’s other smaller ships doing the same itinerary. 2026 is the year to experience the luxurious AmaMagna on the stunning Danube River!!!

Comparing Apples to Apples

On our past AmaWaterways cruises our passengers have chosen the following on Ama’s smaller ships.

  • Approximately 30% of our passengers have booked the Cat C French Balcony Cabins. Cat C Cabins do not have a real balcony, it has a French sliding glass door that opens to the outside with a railing just outside the sliding glass door. You can sit in your room and lean out over the railing.
  • Approximately 65% of our passengers have booked BB (or better) full balcony cabins. The BB or better cabins on the smaller ships, have a private outside balcony with deck chairs.

With the Luxurious AmaMagna, they do not have any Cat C cabins with french sliding glass door and balcony. The ship goes from port-hole cabins to full balcony cabins. The full balcony cabins all have a private deck with deck chairs. Cat C French sliding glass door passengers would have to upgrade to full balcony cabins on the luxurious AmaMagna. Now for the special deal. Those that would have taken the Cat C French sliding glass door balcony, you can upgrade from a 170 square foot room on the smaller ships to a 252 square foot AB Cabin on the AmaMagna for only $550pp. You really can afford the AmaMagna full balcony cabin.

Now for the BEST news ever: For the 65% of our passengers that would have chosen a BB (or better) full balcony cabin on the smaller ships with their 210 Square foot rooms – you can have a 255 Square foot AB balcony cabin on the luxurious AmaMagna for the same price. Yes, that’s right – with our special discounts in 2026, you can have the luxurious AmaMagna for the same price you would pay for Ama’s smaller ships doing the same itinerary at the same time of year. The price for Ama’s smaller ships 210 Square Foot BB cabin with full balcony AFTER our $1,000 discount – the price is $5,548. For exactly the same price, $5,548, you can have the 252 Square foot AB cabin with full private balcony on the luxurious AmaMagna. By the way, the ship charges $7,098 for this same AB Cabin. This is too great a deal to pass up!

355 Square Foot SB Suite Cabin with Full Balcony

NOW FOR THE BEST DEAL EVER: UP GRADE from a AmaMagna 252 square foot AB Cabin to AmaMagna’s 355 Square foot SB Suite Cabin for only $600 per person. This is the cabin our owners picked the summer of 2024. To say they were blown away would be an understatement. Even the bathroom is huge with the toilet in a separate room. It is worth every penny of the $600 per person to upgrade. Talk about the deal of a lifetime. You can enjoy the suite life on the most luxurious river cruise ship in the world – The AmaMagna.

We don’t know if we will have this deal in the future, but for 2026 don’t miss out on our Danube cruise on the AmaMagna – Look over the the itinerary and call right away, making sure you get space on this fantastic, luxurious sailing.

355 Square Foot SB Suite Cabin with Full Balcony

HUGE, HUGE, HUGE Addition: We have added Istanbul Turkey, one of our favorite cities in Europe. The end of Europe and the start of Asia is separated through the middle of Istanbul by the Bosphorus Strait. The Bosphorus Strait is a body of water that connects the Mediterranean Sea to the Black Sea. You will even enjoy a boat ride on the Bosphorus where you will at times be in Europe and then other times in Asia. The Roman emperor Constantine the Great made Istanbul his imperial capital, later to be named Constantinople. It served as an imperial capital for almost 1,600 years. After the fall of Constantinople in 1453 it became part of the Ottoman Empire. There is so much to see and experience – we will spend 3 nights in Istanbul. By the time you leave you will understand why Istanbul is the owners of Fun For Less Tours favorite city in Europe.

We have combined a luxurious Exotic Danube Cruise with Istanbul, Turkey along with a fantastic tour of Romania. Altogether You will visit 6 countries: Turkey, Romania, Hungary, Croatia, Serbia and Bulgaria. You will sail in luxury on AmaWaterways AmaMagna ship. AmaWaterways has been voted the best river cruise line in Europe for years, beating out everyone including Viking Cruises. All of your shore excursions are included! Romania is one of our favorite countries in Europe and you’re going to love it too. Romania has three of the best castles in Europe, including Peles Castle, which is our favorite. Romania also has Transylvania and the mystique of Count Vlad Dracula. Yes, there really was a Vlad Dracula in the Transylvania mountains. He was born in a small village in 1431, your tour includes a visit to this medieval walled village where Count Vlad Dracula was born. You will also visit Bran Castle and Hunedoara Castle. Hunedoara Castle was once voted the scariest place on earth. Please trust us, Istanbul, Romania and the Exotic Danube needs to move to the top of your list – we know you’re going to love it too. By chartering part of the ship, we received special pricing not given to others.

This is a partial list, and subject to change as needed to accomplish everything we can in each area we visit. We will have local guides who will make sure we see the very best in the time we have.

Day 1: May 8: Fly to Istanbul
Fly from the U.S. to Istanbul.

Day 2: May 9: Istanbul
Upon arrival we will transfer to our wonderful 5 Star-Luxury Hotel.  (Transfers are included if you booked our group airfare or your flight arrives on or before and departs on or after our group flights.)

Day 3: May 10: Istanbul
Many of the religious sites in Istanbul have been occupied by both Muslim and Christian faiths.  Istanbul is filled with early Christian history.  Our tour today will include the magnificent Hagia Sofia, Hippodrome, and the stadium of ancient Byzantium, where an Egyptian obelisk and bronze sculpture of the entwined serpents from Delphi still survive. We then continue on to the Blue Mosque which owes its name to the exquisite tiles adorning its interior. In the afternoon, we will visit the amazing Topkapi Palace, which from the 15th to the 19th Century was the principal residence of the Ottoman Sultans. Overnight Istanbul.

Day 4: May 11: Istanbul
We will start the day with a boat ride on the Bosporus, the water that separates Asia from Europe. Istanbul is both in Asia and Europe. We will finish all touring in Istanbul and spend time shopping in the famous Grand Bazaar – a medieval version of a modern shopping mall all under roof.  It has existed since the 15th century with roughly 4,000 stores.  It is the number one tourist attraction in Istanbul.  Overnight Istanbul

Day 5: May 12: Istanbul – Bucharest
This morning we will fly from Istanbul to Bucharest.  Upon arrival we will to a city tour along with visiting the Village Museum, one of the oldest and largest outdoor museums in Europe. We will then spend the night in Bucharest.

Day 6: May 13:  Sinaia – Brasov
This morning, we will drive approximately 80 miles to the mountain resort of Sinaia. Sinaia is often referred to as the “Pearl of the Carpathians”.  This lovely valley has what we consider one of the most beautiful castles in the world – the Peles Castle. We will then drive 30 miles to Brasov.  This city is nestled in the foothills of the Carpathian Mountains.  This location made it an ideal setting for a medieval city.

Day 7: May 14:  Brasov
Today we will tour Bran Castle, often referred to as Dracula’s Castle.  Though there is little concrete proof, many historians agree that Vlad Tepes (a.k.a Vlad the Impaler, whom Bram Stoker used as a model for his 1897 story-Dracula) did reside at Bran Castle during his raids in Transylvania.

Day 8: May 15: Sighisoara – Sibiu
Today we will travel to the walled city of Sighisoara.  Sighisoara is one of the seven citadels constructed by the German settlers in the 12th Century.  Walking along the magical cobbled alleyways, in the shadow of one of the nine towers, transports you back in time.  It is possibly the best-walled city in Eastern Europe.  The city is also the birthplace of the infamous Vlad Tepes otherwise known as Count Vlad Dracula.  This afternoon we will travel to Sibiu. Sibiu was the largest and wealthiest of seven walled cities that were constructed in the 12th century by German settlers.  Today Sibiu has been preserved and the streets have not changed in over 500 years. The center of town is a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Day 9: May 16: Corvin Castle – Sezged
This morning we drive to Hunedoara Castle, nestled in the Transylvania Alps. Recently the castle has gained notoriety and was named one of the scariest places in the world.  The castle held Count Vlad Dracula in prison for 7 years. After our tour of this fantastic castle, we will drive into the bottom of Hungary, overnighting in Sezgred, Hungary.

Day 10: May 17: Sezged – Budapest – Luxurious AmaMagna Ship
This morning we will drive about 2.5 hours to Budapest.  Upon arrival we will tour Budapest – our sightseeing tour will include a visit to Buda Hills, St. Mathias Church, and the Fishermen’s Bastions. Continuing on to the elegant part of Pest, we stop at Hero’s Square. Late this afternoon we will check into our AmaMagna ship in Budapest.

Important Note: AmaWaterways includes premium shore excursions at no additional cost. In many of the ports of call, the ship may offer different shore excursions, often including a bicycle tour. Our owners have selected, what they felt to be the best shore excursion for each port. After you arrive at the ship if you decide that you would like to make a change to a different tour you can make that change onboard. Please note that the shore excursions we recommend in the day-to-day itinerary below could be different from what the ship offers in 2026. This is the best of what they are currently offering.

Day 11: May 18: Mohacs
Pecs is the former European capital of culture, it is approximately an hour bus ride from the ship.  We will take a walking tour to see the town center, the underground early Christian Cemetery, the Mosque, and have some free time to shop.  Most travelers consider Pecs their second favorite city in Hungary

Day 12: May 19: Vukovar – Novi Sad
Today we will stop briefly in Vukovar before continuing downriver to Novi Sad.  The small Croatian river town of Vukovar is also known as the Hero Town.  In the early 1990s, 2,000 self-organized Croatian civilians and volunteers heroically defended the town for 3 months against a heavily fortified Serbian army 40,000 strong.  This afternoon in Novi Sad we will enjoy a walking tour of the old city.  In the evening after dinner, we plan to visit the Petrovaradin Fortress where we explore the fortifications including the underground tunnels.

Day 13: May 20: Belgrade
This morning we will enjoy a Belgrade city tour to see Kalemegdan fortress, St. Sava Cathedral, and some free time on the pedestrian street.  This afternoon the tour includes the Royal Palace & and Tito’s memorial tour.

Day 14: May 21: Cruise Highlight Day
Today will be a major highlight day as we sail through the most spectacular scenery found anywhere along the entire Danube River.  This evening they plan to park the ship Vidin, where you can get off and walk around on your own.

Day 15: May 22: Vidin
Tour of Vidin and Belogradchik Fortress.  Enjoy the breathtaking landscape and great views from the top of the fortress.

Day 16: May 23: Rousse – Veliko Tarnovo
Today is a full-day excursion to Arbanassi (an authentic medieval village) and to Veliko Tarnovo, the former capital of the Second Bulgarian Kingdom.  Both have beautiful scenery and architecture.

Day 17: May 24: Giurgiu – Bucharest – Fly Home
Early this morning we say goodbye to the beautiful AmaWaterways ship and travel to Bucharest airport for your flight back to the U.S. and home.
